The photographs come first.

Your slot is held.

Send them here, and the checkout opens for your size. I'll write within three days to say they've arrived and yours is in the queue.

What makes a photograph work

Get low. Go outside.

Daylight, no flash

Near a window, or outdoors on an overcast day. Flash flattens the fur and kills the colour in their eyes, which is the part I need most.

Down at their level

Crouch until the camera is at their eye height. Photographs taken from standing make every dog look like a snout.

Three to five, not thirty

One clear head-on, one of the whole body, and one you simply love. Up to five. I work from all of them at once.

For a house, cross the street

Stand on the far kerb at midday, square to the front door, with no cars parked in front. One of the whole house, one of the door.

Send the originals

Straight from the camera roll. Screenshots and anything sent through a group text arrive too small to paint from.

The intake

The photographs.

Use the same email at the checkout, so I can match the photographs to your order. The address is where the finished portrait goes.

Photographs get shrunk a little on the way over, still plenty to paint from. If one won't go through, email it to hey@motherformstudio.com with your name in the subject line and I'll find it.
